Unconventional, whimsical, rustic and Woodstock inspired this wedding celebration had it all! A dreamy location, a stylish couple together with their beloved pets, and an exquisite design with highlight, a long serpentine table formation for 200 guests on a railway!
Maria and Filimonas ‘s decided to tie the knot totally out of the box, celebrating their big day on a railway, in one of the oldest railway stations in Greece, amidst centuries-old trees at picturesque Mileai, Pelion out of Greece. They didn’t opted for the location by chance, as in this village they are used to spent most of their weekends, while theylove to walk the path of the railway together with their pets, enjoying the beauty of the forest and their privacy. Together with their beloved cats and dogs, Luna, Tula, Roza, Rula and accompanied by their best friends and family, in a significant date for them (21.08.21) they realized the wedding of their dreams, literally on this picturesque old railway.
Maria Lilly is an interior designer herself with a high leveled aesthectics, so we couldn’t be more lucky to cooperate in a better way with a bride. The color palette we chose, was based on rust yellows, oranges and sage green and the concept behind this, was to match the surroundings, but mainly, we inspired by the architecture and the characteristic facade of the olds railway stations with the yellow mustard walls and sage green windows. The stationery suite customized to depict all the story in a fanciful way using watercolor method, as it included all the protagonists sketched together with the location’s basic elements. With both Italian and Cypriot roots to exist in the famillies, the moodboard, the pattern and the hues that used for the stationery and the overall décor were really inspired by these two cultures together with Pelian tradition.
Concerning the constructing part, the demands of this wedding couldn’t be described as something common, as we had to build everything from scratch while at the same time we had limits on the timeline, as the railway is still in function, with a small train to pass every 15 hours, so we had to realize the setup preparation and the displacement essentially, in less than 7 hours.
The ceremony took place in one of the oldest orthodox chapels at Pelion in the center of Mileai ‘s traditional square. We kept the décor there, simple and minimal with impressive floral arrangements into bamboo baskets on the floor and a refreshment corner for guests.
The wedding reception dinner setup was based on a serpentine long table formation of 200 guests, following the direction of the railway. Wooden monastery tables along with x-back chairs and an impressive custom made lighting setup on the tables, with bulbs lights to be suspended, gave the coziness of long family Italian tables and the magic touch to create unforgettable memories under a sky with full moon and full of stars.
Little vases in terracota and honey yellow hues with luscious florals in terracotta hues and greenery, came to embellish this long table, while art de la table, consisted of glassware and dishware with a traditional design, napkins in various colors of the used palette and handmade personal favors for guests, left everyone impressed!
After the dinner came a crazy party, in a dancefloor with fanciful details, Woodstock inspired, with a scrappy fabric, colorful garlande on the top and a discoball in the center, while a lounge area with boho details, rugs, sofas and chandeliers wait for guests to indulge their premium cocktails served by professional barmen. A neon sign with the quote ’drunk in love’ consisted the hot spot for memorable clicks while nearby guests were treated fresh ice cream from an ice cream corner!
In the main entrance of the wedding reception, a dessert table in front of the picturesque railway station waited for guests to be treated wine cooler and taste carefully selected wine pairings, inspired by Mediterranean with a variety of cheeses, olives and fresh fruits. This was really a treat to the eye and a feast for the senses!
While entering and admiring the whole scenery, guests, found their seats from an eye catching seating board on a canvas, which reminded an open book with all the protagonists names written in the first page.
Maria Lilly’s bridal styling was the definiton of inspirational if you are for a bohemian styling! With a total look by ‘Rue de Seine’, three different pairs of shoes with a rock pair of booties among them, and an eclectic choice of striking silver jewellery, her style really rocked! We loved also her big floral wreath and the embroidered jean jacket she chose to complete her look. The moodbaord was completed, with Filimonas’ one of a kind terracotta linen suit and his unique accessories.
Modern, traditional, rock or boho, or whatever style you prefer to apply on your wedding, you are going to love MariaLilly and Filimonas’ wedding story! So, ‘Meet us on the railway’!
