Apostolia & Antonis began to plan their wedding some days before the Covid session. They live in Germany and they were dreaming of a destination wedding in Greece with about 100 friends and family. Only some days before the big day, they were obliged to realise their wedding with 50 guests, due to local restrictions in Greece for Covid-19 and despite the fact that we had to rearrange a lot of things at last moment, they finally had the wedding of their dreams.
The destination that stole their heart from the very first moment, was the picturesque village of Portaria in Pelion, Greece.
Pelion is an amply watered mountain with an abundance of springs, gorges, streams and rivulets. It is considered to be one of the most beautiful mountains in Greece. Its picturesque villages retain traditional Pelian architecture with stone buildings made out of expertly carved local grey, blue or green slate and red clay. They are built on terraces on the slopes and offer stunning vistas of the surroundings slopes and the sea.
For their stationery suite creation, from their own logo and patterns’ design to the color palette, we based on local architecture, trying to combine both region’s tradition along with modern elements. Terracotta was the dominant color, matching a lot with the blossomed ceramic pots in every yard around the village.
The wedding ceremony took place in the church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, which is the central parish church in Makrinitsa, had been built in 1760. The church has to offer some of the finest examples of greek folk stone sculpture. Taking this fact into consideration, the decorative styling, we choose to follow, was simply traditional with colorful details. Flowers creations, reminding of a flourishing garden, filled with color the picturesque church, while refreshments, combined with fresh fruits, were such a pleasant surpsise for guests arriving through the scenic pavements.
The reception party took place in Valeni boutique hotel, in its amazing terrace with the mesmerizing sunset and the beautiful view of Volos City.
In the wedding reception entrance, an impressive welcome table with an abundance of local goods had been waiting for the guests to be treated. Tradition met modernism, mixing materials and exchanging taste and flavours, feeling like Greece. Along with this, a modern shaped-unconventional seating board impressed the guests finding their seat, while they enjoyed their welcome drinks. For the table setting, we chose monastery wooden tables decorated with refined creations of flowers in ceramic pots, linen fabric runner in dusty blue combined with custom made macramé details and embroidered napkins with their own logo, while for table numbers, we came up with the idea to be ceramic handpainted tiles following the stationery suite. Apart from the table setting, lighting set up combined with macrame lightings, a dancefloor, specially designed with rugs, following the shape and the color of their own logo and an amazing bar full of flowers and signature cocktails created the ideal atmosphere for the perfect wedding party that no one of the guests could easily get over!
